The Graduate Program in Informatics (PPGI) aims to train qualified human resources for the development of research and to stimulate scientific production and its dissemination to meet local and regional demands in the area of Computer Systems.

Since 2004 the master's degree in informatics started its activities, but still without CAPES recognition. In mid-2005 the course was recognized by the Institution, with a grade of 3 and currently this grade has been increased to 4.

The current proposal of the master's degree has a very cohesive faculty and is divided into two single lines of research: "Signals, Digital and Graphics Systems" and "Distributed Computing". These two lines of research involve areas such as: Computer Networks, Databases, Signal and Image Processing, Computer Architecture, Digital Television Applications, Software Engineering, Security, Optimization, Computer Graphics, IoT, Smart City, among others.

The curriculum framework of the course meets the basic training of a graduate student in informatics with the requirement of mandatory courses recommended by the Area Committee.
