The course on offer is a Professional Master's Degree in Journalism at UFPB, whose characteristic aims to train professionals trained at an advanced level to work in the activities that constitute journalistic work, in its diversity of domains, languages and performance modalities, according to the conceptions that emanate from the principles that govern Normative Ordinance No. 07/2009 of the MEC and regulations provided for by CAPES, as well as the academic objectives of UFPB, with regard to its plan of development of studies of Journalism. It is a new type of interface between the University and the professional field, which aims to contribute through academic processes of teaching and research, to update knowledge; the improvement of technical-instrumental training and critical analytical reflection of journalistic activity in society. The proposal is in line with a progressive trajectory of growth and expansion at UFPB, with regard to graduate degrees, whether at the level of academic programs or in the modalities of professional master's degrees. The institution is inaugurating its vocation for training at the Doctorate and Master's level, with emphasis on the Professional Doctorate Program, in the Mathematics course, which has been in operation since the 2011.1 academic period, as well as the Professional Master's degree in Management of Learning Organizations and Professional Master's degree in Linguistics, at CCHLA The Communication and Tourism Department also shows growth rates and monitoring of this expansion path marked by the institutional development plan of UFPB, evidenced by its installed teaching capacity, its potential formation for such a program, its emerging expansion and reconfiguration, with the creation, at the undergraduate level, of the Cinema and Audiovisual Course, as well as the dismemberment of qualifications in new courses in Journalism, Radio and Public Relations. The last two decades lived at Decomtur-UFPB, were characterized by an intensive policy of training its staff, with twenty-seven graduate professors with a Doctorate degree, three of them with Post-doctorate degrees, and the rest of the body with the title of MSc. The professors who make up the permanent body of the Professional Master's Degree develop research capable of feeding the area of concentration and the proposed line of research with regard to processes, practices and products, with interventions in the fields of investigative journalism, digital journalism in its various expressions: visual , printed and sound. They also develop research aimed at creating observatories covering topics in the local press, while in the so-called reflective space, others carry out works on the circulation and consumption of news in the context of television journalism. Scheduling and counter-scheduling in journalism, graphic and visual designer, video clip language, digital radio journalism are also themes addressed by these teachers.
