Show Summary

In this work, we study issues related to the existence, non-existence and concentration behavior of standing wave solutions for a class of generalized quasilinear Schrödinger equations with critical growth, which model physical phenomena such as fluid mechanics, physics plasmas and dissipative quantum mechanics. In order to obtain our results, we used a Pohozaev identity, fixed point theory in ordered spaces and variational methods, such as mini-max theorems.

Qualitative properties for nonnegative solutions to strongly coupled fourth order systems

Show Summary
-
In this thesis, we study qualitative properties for nonnegative solutions to a class of fourth order systems driven by a Gross--Pitaevskii type nonlinear coupling term defined on a punctured domain. More accurately, we provide classification results and a description of the local behavior near an isolated (non-removable) singularity. We divide our analysis into two cases. Namely, either the underlying domain is the punctured space or a punctured ball. First, we classify the solutions in the whole space, called the blow-up limit solutions (or Emden--Fowler solutions). Second, we show that these limiting solutions are the local models of our system near the origin. The growth of the nonlinear coupling term alters our analysis. In this fashion, we divide our approach into the (upper) critical and subcritical cases, which is also split into more sub-cases with respect to the so-called (or lower critical) Serrin exponent. We are based on cylindrical logarithm coordinates, Liouville-type results, integral representation formulas, sliding techniques, Pohozaev functionals, analytic Fredholm theory, and asymptotic analysis.
In the critical setting, our system is closely related to conformal geometry, being the most natural vectorial extension of the conformally flat Q-curvature equation. In this case, a delicate study of the geometric Jacobi fields in the kernel of the linearized operator around blow-up limit solutions is also required.

In this work, we study the existence of solutions for fourth order elliptic equations considering differents cases of potentials. These problems arise in the study of various physical phenomena and in engineering such as travelling waves in suspension bridges and deformations of an elastic beam in equilibrium state. Show Summary
-
In this work, we study the development of the theory of algebraic and transcendent numbers with emphasis on a solution of Hilberts Seventh Problem, a result that
brought together the efforts of great mathematicians. For a better understanding of
this process, we present the result obtained by Liouville from a theorem that characterizes algebraics, then we build a number that does not satisfy this characterization,
therefore, it will be transcendent. We will prove the remarkable existence of transcendents via Liouville and through Cantor, showing that the infinite of the transcendent
is not enumerable, while of the algebraic it is enumerable, showing that there are many
more transcendent numbers than algebraic. We will demonstrate a generalization of
the Lindemann Theorem established by Hermite-Lidemann, with more general consequences such as the transcendence of certain numbers and functions: e
α, e, π, log(α), sin(α), cos(α) and tan(α), being α algebraic, and yet, our main object of study, which is a solution to Hilberts Seventh Problem and some consequences. Problem that asked if numbers of the form α^β, where α is an algebraic number different from 0 and 1; and β is an algebraic and irrational number, they are all transcendent. In this sense, we have an infinity of numbers in the form 2^(√2), i^i, log_10(2), e^π and (log 3)/(log 2) that are transcendent.
Finally, as a consequence, we will introduce a recent significant advance of a more general formulation of a conjecture proved by Baker, which says that any finite non-zero
combination of algebraic logarithms with algebraic coefficients is transcendent, and
thus, facilitating the search for transcendents and enabling the development of other
areas.

In this work, we study families of analytic functions defined on either subanalytic sets or complex analytic spaces. We give sufficient conditions for a family depending linearly on the parameter to have constant abstract topological type, generalizing some important classical results due to Lê-Ramanujam, King and Parusinski. In the particular case of isolated singularity families defined on an ICIS, we prove that the μ-constancy implies abstract topological triviality.

On r-Trapped Immersions in Lorentzian Spacetimes and a Weighted Inequality for Tensors.

Show Summary
-
This work was divided into two moments: at first, we set out to study spacelike submanifolds $\Sigma^n$ immersed in Lorentz spacetimes $M^{n+p+1}$. So, we introduce the notion
of r-trapped submanifolds as a generalization of the trapped submanifolds introduced
by Penrose. In the case where the ambient space is a GRW $−Ix_\rho M^{n+p}$, considering some properties such as parabolicity and stochastic completeness we prove rigidity
and nonexistence results for r-trapped in some configurations of GRW spacetimes and,
lastly, we provide examples of r-trapped submanifolds, some of them are also simultaneously trapped, but we provided examples proving that the notion of r-trapped
submanifolds are different accordingly to the number r. On the other hand, in the
case where the ambient space is an SSST$M^{n+p}x_\rho R_1$, we calculate the differential
operators Lr, L\rho r and Lr,\phi applied to the height function $h = \pi_R\circ\psi$ of the immersion $\psi:\Sigma^n \to M^{n+p}x_\rho R_1$ and we consider some properties on $\Sigma^n$ such as parabolicity and maximum principles. In this setting, we prove rigidity and nonexistence results for r-trapped spacelike submanifolds. After, we obtain some De Lellis-Topping type
inequalities for general tensors under constraints in the Bakry-Émery Ricci tensor.
In particular, we provide new results on manifolds with convex boundary, improving
some known results given on manifolds with totally geodesic boundary. Furthermore,
we apply our results in a class of locally conserved tensors.

Show Summary

In this work we investigate lineability results and multipolynomial variants of classical inequalities. In the first part, inspired by a paper published by I. J. Maddox, in 1987, we prove a lineability result related to absolutely summing operators in sequence spaces. Next, we introduce a more restrictive notion of lineability and generalize theorems on the lineability of the sets $\ell_{p} \diagdown \bigcup_{0p}L_{q}[0,1]$. Moreover, this new approach is also explored in the context of Peano curves, motivated by a paper due to Albuquerque et al., 2014. In the second part, we perform a brief study on homogeneous multipolynomials, with the aim to obtain multipolynomial variants of the Kahane--Salem--Zygmund and
Hardy--Littlewood inequalities.

Finally, in Chapter 3 we present variations of the multiple Khinchin inequality.

Ground state and nodal solutions for some elliptic equations involving the fractional Laplacian operator and Trudinger-Moser nonlinearity

Show Summary

In this work, we study the existence of ground state and least energy nodal solutions for
four classes of problems involving the fractional Laplacian operator with nonlinearities that may have
critical exponential growth in the sense of the Trudinguer-Moser inequality. We prove that ground
state solutions have a defined signal and we show that the least energy nodal level is greater than
twice the ground state level. The first problem is defined in an open bounded interval of and the
second one is defined in the whole real line, both involving the 1/2-Laplacian operator. The third
problem, also with the 1/2-Laplacian operator and defined in an open bounded interval, is of
Kirchhoff-fractional type with Kirchhoff function of the form , with . We
show the existence of a least energy nodal solution, a nonnegative solution and a nonpositive
solution, each of which has minimum energy between the solutions with defined signal. In this case,
we also study the asymptotic behavior of nodal solutions, when . The last problem addressed
is defined in a bounded domain , , with Lipschitz boundary and involves the
fractional $N/s-$Laplacian operator, . In this case, we also found a least energy nodal
solution and nontrivial nonnegative and nonpositive solutions, which have minimum energy between
the solutions with defined signal. The main tools used in this study are: Trundiguer-Moser type
inequalities, variational methods, deformation lemma and degree theory.

Formulações da Massa ADM e Gráficos com bordo não compacto

Show Summary
-
