CURRICULAR STRUCTURE

Composed of mandatory and elective subjects, with 22 (twenty-two) credits for the Master's and 35 (thirty-five) credits for the Doctorate. The minimum and maximum duration of the course will be, respectively, 12 (twelve) and 24 (twenty-four) months for the Master's Degree, and 24 (twenty-four) and 48 (forty-eight) months for the Doctorate, including the preparation and presentation time of the Dissertation/Thesis.

The compulsory subjects for the Master's are: Social Psychology I (03 credits), Social Psychology II (03 credits/45h); Research Planning (03 credits/45h), Data Evaluation and Analysis Techniques (03 credits/45h), Research Seminar in Social Psychology I (04 credits/60h), and Research Seminars in Social Psychology II (04 credits/60h).

For the doctorate, the compulsory subjects are: Social Psychology I (03 credits/45h), Social Psychology II (03 credits/45h); Research Planning (03 credits/45h), Data Evaluation and Analysis Techniques (03 credits / 45h), Advanced Research Seminar in Social Psychology I (04 credits/60h); Advanced Research Seminars in Social Psychology II (04 credits/60h), Advanced Research Seminars in Social Psychology III (04 credits/60h), and Advanced Research Seminars in Social Psychology IV (04 credits/60h).

All elective subjects are 03 credits with a 45-hour course load. Participation is integrated between masters and doctoral students and is defined as follows: Special Topics in Social Psychology I; Special Topics in Social Psychology II; Special Topics in Social Psychology III; Special Topics in Social Psychology IV; Advanced Methods of Quantitative Research; Advanced Qualitative Research Methods; Experimental Social Psychology; Social Psychology of Health; Social Psychology of Work; Social Psychology of Human Development; Social Psychology and Public Policy; Cognitive and Social Neuroscience; Social Psychology of Groups and Intergroup Relations; Social Psychology of Human Values.

All students are encouraged to undertake the academic activity called Teaching Internship, which is compulsory for scholarship students. 02 credits are awarded, respectively, for master's students and a maximum of 04 for doctoral students. This activity has a specific prominence in PPGPS because we understand teaching practice as of great relevance to achieve our objectives and fulfill our mission to prepare qualified professors not only for scientific production with innovative research but also in the transmission of academic knowledge, strengthening teaching in the country and the insertion of graduates in different Brazilian and international institutions.

PPGPS offers the possibility for students to get involved in academic activities, called Special Studies. We motivate students to do it, as they are assigned up to a maximum of 2 (two) credits for the master's degree and 4 (four) credits for the doctorate. Special Studies are non-compulsory activities that allow students to develop skills for researching the domain of one of the program's lines of research during the corresponding graduate course, resulting in publication or acceptance for publication in a scientific journal, Qualis between A1 and B2 or JCR (Journal Citation Reports) 0.80.

GRADUATES

Our graduates are dynamic professionals capable of learning and articulating the various theoretical and methodological contributions promoted in Social Psychology at national and international levels. More specifically, the professionals trained here have developed the necessary skills to:

1) Provide consistent scientific responses at the forefront of the study of individual and collective behavior;

2) Exercise undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the most varied fields of application of social psychology;

3) Act as researchers or professors in national and international higher education institutions;

4) Influence other areas of knowledge, such as, for example, health and education, as it evidences in its research new information which collaborates with the formulation of public policies aimed at solving concrete social problems;

5) Lead national and international multidisciplinary teams dedicated to solving the most pressing issues of modern changing societies, acting in the mediation of national conflicts and the new international dynamics;

6) Spread the knowledge produced by Brazilian Social Psychology internationally through the publication of research in journals with a high impact factor. Our graduates are specially prepared to autonomously publish the results of their research in international journals that define the mainstream in Social Psychology

 

BUILDINGS STRUCTURE

Classrooms & Laboratories

The program has two classrooms equipped with media resources. It has two laboratories and ten rooms for research centers, all with equipment and multimedia resources. For defenses, we have two auditoriums, in addition to two mini-auditoriums belonging to the Center for Human Sciences, Letters, and Arts (CCHLA).

Library

Regarding bibliographic resources, internet resources are available to enable access to the CAPES Journal Portal. Also, the CCHLA sector library or even the UFPB Central Library can be used, besides mini-libraries in the research centers/groups linked to permanent professors.
