Between Thoth and Hermes Trismegistus:
Egyptian cosmogonies in Hermetic Literature

Show Summary
-
Hermetic Literature encompasses a collection of documents ranging from magical papyri
with various incantations, treatises on astrology, instructions of an emerging alchemy,
excerpts, and treatises of "philosophical-religious" nature. The main characteristic uniting
this diverse documentation lies in the figure of Hermes Trismegistus (Ἑρμῆς Τρισμέγιστος).
In almost all of these documents, the figure of Trismegistus is central, whether as a
dramatis personae, a deity of worship, a pseudoepigraphic author of the documents, and
often amalgamating all these roles. Hermetic Literature, for the most part of its trajectory
as an object of academic study, has been examined and interpreted within a polarized
debate. On one side, there are those who defend it as exclusively originating from Greek
philosophy, while on the other, there are those who see beyond its birthplace and its
mythical, hybrid, and syncretic founding character, finding much more from ancient
Egyptian culture in its content. We intend to delve into the Egyptian legacy contained in
these documents by analyzing their texts in comparison with earlier texts of mythical-
religious nature focused on the various cosmogonies originating from Egyptian civilization
throughout its history. Our aim is to, through the theoretical framework provided by Aleida
and Jan Assmann in their studies on cultural memory and the re-etymologization proposed
by Peter Kingsley, identify possible elements of the body of traditions concerning the
religious traditions of ancient Egypt, "under the Greek guise," from the Greco-Roman
period.

The ethnographic research, which is carried out within the scope of Empirical Religious studies in dialogue with the anthropological perspective, has the general objective of understanding Catimbó-Jurema through movements in ways of dressing, through the development of costumes, fabrics and innovations in the ways of creating styles and making fashions. The bibliography on Catimbó-Jurema, the photographic/ethnographic collections of the Folklore Research Mission (1938) and the José Simeão Leal Collection (1941) are starting points for the analysis, bearing in mind the importance of images to reflect on the clothing of an era and its aesthetic (re)inventions. Anthropological studies about material culture (MILLER, 2013), about the value of the image in the ethnographic experience (BARBOSA, 2006; 2016) and the times of images (KOSSOY 1989; 2007) reinforce a potential and effective analytical perspective of memory studies and clothing, clippings from theoretical modeling. The concept of clothing gains a broad modeling here, being understood in dimensions that go beyond the body. The fragmentary voices (interlocutors) of ethnography help in understanding the production system that involves sacred and market value as well as creation strategies, demands, production and consumption processes. Sewing together scraps of a Catimbozeiro past and joining them to contemporary studies on Jurema. I intend, at the end, in final lines, to demonstrate that aesthetic expressions present themselves as extremely important in the preservation of religious memory and in the understanding of a present of innovations stamped on the cult of Jurema. I understand that the analysis of clothing, which involves clothes, adornments, hairstyles, body markings and objects of ritual use, are key pieces and can greatly contribute to the understanding of the Juremeiro religious complex and the gaps in the studies of material culture, since These dimensions have not yet received due treatment in Brazilian Afro-Indigenous bibliography.

This work deals with the subject of meditation based on the experience of teachers of
religious teaching in the city of Bayeux in the state of Paraíba, in order to investigate the
benefits of meditative practices in general and in the educational field, observing, therefore,
the secularity of practice. For this, qualitative and quantitative research will be carried out,
with the object explored being meditation on the concept of ´´self-care`` by the philosopher
Michel Foucault. experiences and acceptance in relation to meditation practices and how
these practices influence the fight against stress arising from work activities in the school
environment, in addition, we sought to verify whether teachers use these practices in the
classroom and what benefits are obtained in general. According to bibliographic research,
meditation has been recognized and practiced as a tool capable of helping to promote health
and well-being by combating stressors by several professionals, including those in
education and, therefore, extending the benefits obtained to their work environments. In
schools, for example, meditation has been gradually introduced by teachers from different
areas, however our objective was to show initiatives and results derived from the practice
of meditation in the expectation of teachers of religious education. To do so, we used
Michel Foucault's philosophical approach as a theoretical basis, reinforcing the idea of the
search for self-knowledge through self-care linked to self-care through the practice of
meditation, as this valuable tool can and should be explored beyond the spiritual sense as
also in a secular way, because self-knowledge is something beneficial and spirituality is
inherent to human beings, regardless of their belief or lack thereof. Finally, our research
was centered on the temporal context of the COVID 19 Pandemic, where remote teaching
prevailed with all the challenges that this period offered to teachers.

-
Contemporary Paganism is an umbrella term that refers to a family of religious movements
inspired by Old Norse beliefs from the pre-Christian period. Followers seek to create and
recreate ancient religious practices in the contemporary world. Among the numerous strands to
which the Contemporary Pagan category belongs, Contemporary Norse Paganism, or Norse
(Neo) Paganism, seeks inspiration in Norse mythology and Norse and Germanic folklore to
construct its performances, symbols and religious identity. As a modern religious movement, it
has additionally found itself embroiled in numerous controversies and has been much debated
in the academic field internationally. The researchers identify a relationship between 19th
century Romantic conceptions of Norse mythology and ideological discourses in various
groups. Therefore, studies on Contemporary Nordic Paganism offer a rich and dynamic context
for research. Contemporary Norse Paganism is constantly being updated, developing new
conceptions and uses of Norse mythology. Considering the scenario presented, the present
research has a qualitative and ethnographic character. It proposes to investigate the identity of
Contemporary Nordic Paganism in the Brazilian context and aims to analyse which symbolic
aspects are related to the construction of the religious identity of Contemporary Nordic
Paganism, as well as deepening the investigation of policies, practices and narratives in relation
to religious understandings. And, finally, it aims to investigate whether there are peculiarities
of the Brazilian context, which it will achieve through a comparative theoretical discussion with
contexts from other countries.

Show Summary

The proposal for Religious Education (RE) in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), a milestone in the consolidation of the pedagogical and epistemological identity of this curricular component in Basic Education, brings up the necessity of thinking about a didactic training in Religious Studies (RS) Graduation. Based on these circumstances, from the central question: what perceptions and understandings of teachers who teach in the Religious Education curricular component emerge about "how to teach" (didactics) about "the self, the other and the us", based on in Religious Studies and BNCC? The thesis was defended that through the primordiality that emerges from the BNCC, by admitting the complexities of articulating the teaching-learning processes, of each Object of knowledge, essentially based on the Religious Studies, it is plausible that the unveiling of understanding about the praxis of how to teach about The self, the other and the us,of teachers who teach in the Religious Education curricular component, by generating references for teacher-training, contribute to the sphere of action of Didactics, in terms of helping the teacher to discern the interrelationships that characterize how to teach the respective sets of content, concepts and processes that constitute the Thematic Units. Justified thesis, considering the dense training that this teacher needs. By articulating theoretical-scientific knowledge with theoretical-practical knowledge; those from RS and the peculiarities of the pedagogical and didactic dimensions, in the teaching-learning process at different stages of teaching and age groups. Thus, through field research, with a qualitative focus and descriptive nature, a study was developed with the objective of: analyze the interrelationships between the understandings of teachers who teach in the Religious Education curricular component, about the praxis of how to teach about The self, the other and the us, based on the Religious Studies from according to the BNCC. Focused on the voice of the teacher, the research analyzed the responses of fourteen teachers from João Pessoa-PB. After observing, verifying and correlating the understandings of the participants, while considering the contributions of Philosophical Hermeneutics. Research that found 5 main findings, namely: the absence of references on the theoretical foundation in Religious Sciences. The absence of references on the theoretical foundation in Religious Studies. Separation between theory and practice in teaching. The problem of dissociation and parallelism between pedagogical knowledge and disciplinary knowledge of Religious Studies. The lack of insight into the fundamental themes of Didactics. Since only the use and application of teaching techniques and resources were verified. It is inferred by highlighting 3 ways in which the findings of this study can contribute to the two aspects of professional training (initial and continuing) in relation to how to teach, that is: the primary place that Didactics in Religious Education needs to assume for the professional practice of teaching. The foundation of Religious Knowledge. And how to teach about The self, the other and the us.

The present study lens to analyze the main pedagogical challenges faced by professors of the Religious Education (RE) discipline in the city of João Pessoa PB in the pandemic period between March 2020 and December 2021. More specifically, I seek to reflect on the configuration of the RE in the Brazilian context, its difficulties and possibilities; I seek to identify possible contributions of RE, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, for professors; I also intend to reveal the challenges of RE for professors and also identify possibilities for strengthening RE as a curricular component in the municipality of João Pessoa PB. Our interest in the topic arose from my experience as a ER professors in the aforementioned municipality, in which I am currently located. Given all the changes imposed by the pandemic, what challenges did RE professors face? How did these professors perceive such challenges and face them through the emergence of remote professors, which emerged as an alternative for continuing the teaching-learning process? The pandemic period and the urgency of social isolation brought many challenges for professors. Therefore, our investigation is based on analyzing such challenges. In methodological terms, our research is qualitative with quantitative data, and uses a phenomenological approach to understand the object under study. Field research was carried out, with data collected through semi-structured interviews with RE professors in the municipality. The data was analyzed using the content analysis technique and the data was presented using categories identified in the analysis of the collected material. It was possible to notice that professors made similar reports regarding the challenges faced during the pandemic period, such as the urgency of using new technologies; the precariousness of technological access for both students and many professors. Added to this is the fear and anguish given the severity and threat of the virus. These are, therefore, difficulties and challenges faced from a psychosocial, technological, and also pedagogical/didactic aspect. Among the main authors used in the theoretical foundation of this study, we highlight Mello (1997; 2007), Silva (2009), Holmes (2016) and Silva (2011), among others. We also highlight the analysis of some important documents for the problematization of education in the municipal network in the highlighted period, such as: Municipal Education Plan (2015-2025), João Pessoa Municipal Education Policy (2021-2024) and Pedagogical Guidelines for Early Childhood Education (2023), among others. We believe that this research makes significant contributions to strengthening the RE component and its professors.

The thesis that aims to analyze aspects of the administration of the Archbishop of Paraíba, Dom José Maria Pires, a religious who commanded the church in Paraíba between the years 1966 and 1995. The analysis was carried out from the perspective that his political-administrative performance of the Catholic Church, in Paraíba, was configured as an act of mobilizing force in pedagogical, social and, at the same time, religious terms. From his life story and his written records throughout his episcopal activity, his theological and political actions, the idea develops that Bishop Dom José Maria Pires managed to expand his religious strength (as bishop), by mobilizing people (mass), to promote actions (movement/acceleration) linked to Liberation Theology. In the theoretical-methodological path followed, the paradox experienced by the Bishop is identified, namely: that of being a religious bureaucrat and, at the same time, a mobilizer around Liberation Theology. The study is divided into four chapters: in the first chapter Mobilizing clerics and faithful around a project: Theology of Liberation in Paraíba, one can understand the actions of Dom José for the realization of this project, passing through the speeches and pastoral visits made by the bishop and demonstrating how he was a character watched over by the Military Government of Brazil. In the second chapter, Trajectories and barriers in the role of lay people in the administration and speech of Dom José Maria Pires, the role and outcome of the Base Ecclesial Communities (CEBs) are outlined, as well as the theological barrier present in the Bishops speeches in relation to women. In the third chapter, Negro por Mercê de Deus, the speeches of Archbishop Dom José, published in newspapers of the time, in handwritten documents and in books, on black theology and the praxis of the Missa dos Quilombos are analyzed. In the fourth chapter, The being: Dom José Maria Pires, there are not only reviews of the bishop's act of smiling, as a composition of his being and his actions, in the process of a liberating evangelization, and in the way the media observed it, but also his choice to make references to the Gospel of Saint Matthew. With the contribution of theorists such as BOURDIEU (1989), WEBER (2016), COMBLIN (1977), BOFF (1982), LÖWY(2016), COUTINHO (2012), TORRES-LONDONÕ (2013), develops a historical narrative and the analysis of a phenomenon, considering, episodically, the actions and reactions of practitioners of the Western Christian religion, with the possibility of not only see beyond the other and their practices, but also considering the look of another be, through a qualitative research of bibliographical and documental source.

This work focuses on analyzing and dissecting the foundational aspects for an imagetic construction, both collective and individual, of popular religious tradition. Through the analysis of the constitutive structures of religious tradition in the popular context and, specifically in the Brazilian Northeast, our observations and research point out that the concept of tradition is often applied inappropriately when it comes to popular religiosity. This is a descriptive and analytical study addressing in an exploratory way the reading, the bibliographic and netnographic survey. Our approach prioritizes the documentary analysis of bibliographic works and texts and the results of ethnographic research from online communities, also known as virtual ethnography. In this sense, we seek to demonstrate how (consciously or unconsciously) people or social groups assume their heroes and eternalize them in their memories. The dialogue with the works of Gilbert Durand and Joseph Campbell will serve as an epistemological field to relate, identify and justify a conceptual corpus to systematize and define the popular religious tradition. Our founding ballast for this dialog passes through the aegis of the General Theory of the Imaginary (TGI) and thus demonstrate the structuring of religious language from the religious manifestations of the surroundings of the life and missions of Father Ibiapina in the Santa Fé Sanctuary in the city of Arara, in the state of Paraíba, Brazil.

The concepts of gender identity and sexual orientation are still little discussed in most Christian churches when they are not inconceivable. This thematic non-acceptance generates the strengthening of prejudices against people who live non-heteronormativity, but who want to live their Christian faith inserted in churches. Therefore, this work aimed to analyze the experiences of homosexual people in Christian churches in the State of Paraíba. Specifically, we sought to identify discrimination and prejudice against homosexuals in the Christian religious context of Paraíba, as well as to understand the behavior of young gay men in Christian churches and learn about compassionate and welcoming actions. With regard to the type of research, the work is qualitative, of the bibliographic type, under the research paradigm of the historical-dialectical materialist method, with analysis method: grounded theory, based on authors such as: Silvana Vilodre Goellner, José Carlos Libânio, Guacira Lopes Louro, Heleieth Iara Bongiovani Saffioti, Flávio Munhoz Sofiati, Joan Scott, Rogério Diniz Junqueira, among others. The chapters present an analysis of the socio-historical and historical-cultural constitution of the construction and regulation of sex and gender, in the context of Western Christianity and the processes of denial of homosexuality, and non-normative gender identities in the holy and sinful Roman church. It also presents a portrait of the new formats of Christian churches in Brazil, the relationship between the Catholic Church and young homosexuals and cases of structural and institutional homophobia in Paraíba. The methodological route covered also allowed us to verify coping actions carried out by Christian religious institutions that awaken a practice of reception and reflection on the theme. It concludes the challenging existence of debating such matters within the churches in order to awaken to religious and scientific recognition and reduce, if not extinguish, discrimination and prejudice. Thus, it will be possible to build a religious culture of sincere reception and recognition of the sacredness of homosexual lives.

ANCESTRALITY AND SPIRITUALITY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF AN AFRICAN PHILOSOPHY

Show Summary
-
As Ubuntu is an ancient philosophy that brings a new possible paradigm to the contemporary world, it is constituted as a pedagogy of ancestry that can teach the world to live its plurality collectively in an empathetic, supportive, fraternal, and welcoming way. Therefore, the objective of this work is to bring subsidies that show that the African philosophy of Ubuntu is fundamental for the construction of a new subjectivity that connects everything that exists and that, despite the attempts of erasure coming from colonialism, has resisted and established itself as something fundamental for the transformation and construction of a plural society that fosters a culture of peace. Through a qualitative approach and from an exploratory research with philosophical and historical bibliographical support, the text establishes an interdisciplinary dialogue between the Science of Religion and Philosophy, particularly with the Philosophy of Religion, placing itself within the Empirical Sciences of Religion, It is based on an Afro-centered methodological orientation that goes through the understanding of matriarchy, ancestry, spirituality and biocentrism, elements present in the Afro-diasporic culture and religions that constitute Ubuntu, one of the main founding concepts of African philosophy. The readings pointed to structuring and structural issues from a social, political, economic, and religious point of view, which deny possibilities and hide paths for the construction of subjectivities and connections that allow the necessary socio-cultural transformations for a plural and collective world. Among these issues, the main ones are racism, subalternization, and epistemological erasures, borders constituted by Eurocentrism to legitimize only the epistemologies produced in the European continent. Despite these facts, it was possible to understand that African Philosophy based on Ubuntu relates to plurality, connecting the immanent and the transcendent, weaving a complex universe that is not supported by the dichotomous epistemological status of Western philosophy, but that fits, as an object of study, within the epistemological status of the Science of Religion. From this understanding, it is possible to affirm that there is an ancestry that connects all living beings, the dead, the unborn, the human and the non-human, generating an interdependence in everything that exists and that relates past, present, and future in a great network of sharing and belonging that humanizes us in a collective praxis called Ubuntu.

ABSTRACT: Loki is considered one of the most emblematic, chaotic and allegorical figures in thirteenth-century narratives, presenting several challenges to their possible understandings in the study of Norse mythology. The objective of this research is to analyze the ancient (pre-Christian) primary sources and compare them with the sources of Snorri's Edda in order to understand the mechanisms of the myth transmitted in society about the deity of the pre-Christian ace in its multiple variations: their individual actions and with the other gods within the myth, in order to list the main mythological, historical-cultural cuts and in the context of pre-Christian society about the approximations in the attitudes of this deity. With this, the approximations of its characteristics within the primary sources will be listed and the most recent mythographic analyzes will be promoted, aiming to cover how aspects of the roles of this mythical figure overlap between the classical sources (Eddas) and contemporary studies (mythographies). Offering as an assumption, the methodological material presented by Schjødt with essential criticisms and notes on the comparative (qualitative) mechanism within the analysis of Loki's mythical narratives. Especially specifically, we will use the methodology of the author of the comparison in its internal form, where Loki will be compared with the elements within the worldview, that is, within the pre-Christian imaginary. This will demonstrate the visuality of pre-Christian mythical aspects of Loki and some recent understandings about Loki being presented as descriptive elements in the comparative analysis linking these points within relations with society, which is the one who shapes the myth.

This work aims to analyze the political and religious trajectory of the Franciscan frei Anastácio Ribeiro, who entered the religious life in 1964, in Paraíba, becoming one of the greatest social and political leaders in the State in the following decades. In the midst of the life story of the religious, we tried to understand what dynamics allowed him to place himself in the field of the democratic left, while he also cultivated a certain prestige among Catholics. This analysis goes through the Liberation Theology (TL) debate, the class struggle and its performance as an organic religious. His biography is intertwined with the history of the struggle for land in the context of Paraíba, as Frei Anastácio made his religious mission an instrument of struggle that triggered his activity as a leftist militant, adding to his mandates as State and Federal Deputies, and other agendas linked to the poor and the workers, which assumes the justification for being the object of this thesis in Sciences of Religions, above all, because it provokes a debate of breadth that is beyond our reach, if it were treated in a generalized way. The theoretical and methodological foundation is based on Marxist and Gramscian conceptions, and other currents of thought, such as the view of man as a symbolic animal, according to Cassirer (1972) The support given to this thesis was the micro-history, and the clipping of Friar Anastácio's own life, weaving a dialogue within the transdisciplinarity of the Sciences of Religions. To obtain the necessary sources for this debate, Oral History was chosen, with semi-structured interviews provided by Frei Anastácio from a documentary, as well as people close to him who have, in a way, a connection with his trajectory. This study aims to highlight the importance of including spirituality and the expanded concept of health in the academic curricula of Physical Education courses. The research was motivated by the observation that many curricula are focused only on the physical aspect, ignoring other essential dimensions of the human being. The research, carried out through a graduate program in Religious Sciences, seeks to promote a professional approach committed to a humanized model of health. The introduction of the subject "spirituality and health" in the curricular matrices of Physical Education courses is seen as a significant advance in professional qualification, providing an integrative and multidimensional view of health. Through the analysis of curricula of ten Physical Education courses in Paraíba, the research identifies gaps and presents the disciplines that approach health promotion in a holistic way. The results are treated both quantitatively, through dimensional graphs, and qualitatively, using the phenomenological analysis of the participants' responses. It is concluded that there is still a long way to go in reformulating curricula to meet the guiding principles of the profession and the guidelines established by the Ministry of Education and regulatory bodies. This research intends to contribute to this discussion, adding the importance of spirituality, the expanded concept of health and knowledge of the integral being in the initial training of Physical Education professionals. Overall, the study emphasizes the need for a more comprehensive and holistic approach in the field of Physical Education, seeking to integrate physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and social aspects to promote a humanized professional performance. The inclusion of spirituality in the curricula is seen as a relevant advance in the training of professionals, enabling a broader understanding of health and more complete care for individuals.

Shamanic Magic and Worldview Among Norse, Finns, and Sámis

Abstract: Manifestations of magic in the cultural contexto of Scandinavia have a long tradition in the academic debate. The focus almost always falls upon the Norsemen, mainly due to the fact that their religious and mythological traditions were considerably more documented than the ones about their Saami or Balto-Finnic neighbours. One of the greatest discussions is in regards to whether the magic expressios of the Norse are of shamanic nature or not and, if the case is positive, to ponder if it would have occured as an inheritance of an Indo-European shamanism or as a result of influences from Arctic shamanism, brought from Siberia by Finno-Ugric peoples such as the Saami and the Balto-Finnic. The presente thesis holds to the hypothesis that the religions of the Norsemen could be seen as a cultural branch of the Arctic shamanism, and that there would have occured, in the Scandinavian region, a considerable traffic of elements, structures, symbols, performances and rituals tipically shamanic, which were all shared by these three peoples. In order demonstrate this argument we are going to analyze the literary sources available about the magical practices, the religion and mythology of each one of these peoples, highligthing a number of ritualistic, performatic, mythological and ideological resemblances which are known traces of Arctic shamanism.

SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE AND MENTAL HEALTH:
A DIALOGUE FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF PSYCHOLOGY PROFESSIONALS

-
Show Summary
-
Considering that many psychology professionals have difficulties understanding and dealing with the spiritual dimension of their practices, the purpose of this study was to gain a deeper understanding of their perspective on the construct of spiritual intelligence since the study of human intelligence has been part of their training and is, therefore, familiar to them. The hypothesis is that the construct of spiritual intelligence could generate an increased openness among these professionals to the spiritual component, which could then reflect on their practices. A semi-structured interview surveyed 20 psychology practitioners working in clinical settings. This research is exploratory-descriptive, concurrent with a qualitative approach, using content analysis as the method of analysis through Iramuteq software. Regarding the results, professionals interviewed defined spiritual intelligence as a capacity for seeking purpose, which significantly differed from a religious perspective, unlike when asked about spirituality. In terms of the correlation between spiritual intelligence and mental health, the majority believes in this correlation based on the notion that spirituality is intrinsic to human beings and, as a result, encompasses health. Besides, most of the interviewed professionals consider themselves development facilitators of their patients' or clients' spirituality, depending on their interests and demands. In conclusion, spiritual intelligence appears to be an alternative approach, especially when working with spirituality outside of a religious framework, turning it into a relevant construct to be applied and considered in psychological clinical practice.

So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord, and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head (Job 2:7). Biblical passage that gives a measure of the mythical atmosphere that surrounds the narratives of leprosy; millenary disease that brings in its scope several types of dermatological conditions, among them, in particular importance, leprosy, until today rooted in macules in our society. To one sinful disease (Tsara'ath), a meticulous reclusive prescription is described in the bible (Leviticus 13,14), as well as New Testament narratives add purification rituals. In the current polychemotherapy treatment of leprosy, the cure. We reflected the disease considering the multidimensional being, under the eyes of authors such as Kleinman (1980), Goffman (1998), Pargament (1995) Koenig, (2001) and Frankl (1997) to investigate the perception of leprosy patients about the stigma and its established relationship with spirituality. It is a research in the area of Sciences of Religions and nursing that interrelates spirituality and health, advocated by the subarea Sciences of Applied Religion. The perspective was phenomenological, with a qualitative approach, through a case study. We used a semi-structured interview to collect data at the hospital for infectious and contagious diseases, Complexo Hospitalar Clementino Fraga (CHCF), in João Pessoa/PB. Participated 12 patients: 6 men and 6 women; majority (67%) in the age group between 40 and 79 years; diagnostic prevalence (75%) borderline form G2; majority (58%) declared black; as for schooling, 67% did not complete higher elementary education; 100% were out of work; 69% are undergoing MDT treatment for cure and 34% are undergoing treatment for sequelae and leprosy reactions; the complaint of numbness in the hands and feet was unanimous (100%), followed by (84%) pain in the arms and legs; 42% said they had contagious cases in their family; 75% affirmed religiosity, of these, 42% Catholics and 33% Evangelicals; 100% have heard leprosy synonymous with leprosy, and 75% believe that leprosy is leprosy; the biblical story most associated with leprosy was (75%) of the 'leper Lazarus' (Luke16:19-31); all verbalized (100%) the emotion fear after diagnosis, followed by (84%) shame and anguish. As for healing, three conceptions were identified: 75% believe in healing through the combination of medicine and spirituality, 58% believe in healing conditioned to divine permission and 25% do not believe that there is a cure, but affirm the need for MDT treatment for the reactions leprosy and spirituality to support suffering. In the categories Faith, Religiosity and Spirituality, related to the disease; we had the following results: faith is believing and trusting in God, religiosity is seeking a place to communicate with God and unite people, spirituality is an essential inner strength to deal with suffering and achieve healing. We ratify, among other aspects, that for the patients in this research, the connection with a superior force, whatever the belief, was of vital importance to deal with both the biological process of illness and the socio-emotional and spiritual aspects of the mythical burden. We noticed that spirituality, through optimism, hope, religious actions and faith, played an important role in resilience and re-signification of the healing process, even for those who doubted or did not believe in its effectiveness.

The witch, in the western imagination, is an individual that refers to the Middle Ages. From the
15th century, her image was represented in countless contexts, reproduced in the form of
woodcuts, painted on canvas, wood, etc. Therefore, finding that this figure, labelled as
something evil and persecuted for centuries by institutions, could find a place within Christian
churches, seems a little strange. Strange, until the moment when we realize that the matter is a
reality. In this sense, with our dissertation, we present how Albertus Pictor, the most famous
painter of churches in Sweden, elaborated, on the walls and vaults of these structures, a series
of allegories in which the Witch is the main interpreter of situations that refer to the tasks of the
time women. Specifically, we deal with the allegory of the tradition of the Theft of milk, a belief
that, over time, was condemned for carrying aspects that were equated with the imaginary of
Witchcraft. Therefore, during our investigation, we found out how much the transmission of
customs, behaviours, memories, beliefs, legends, which occurred over time among the people
of these communities, were elements that influenced Albertus Pictor in the elaboration of his
works. Thus, as primary sources of analysis, we used the representations of witches present in
the church of Ösmo, in Sweden. Thus, to structure our study, we used a methodology that is
based on a qualitative approach that transits through Symbology, present in the representations,
using, among others, the theoretical field of the Italian School of History of Religions. Thus, to
achieve our intent, with the purpose of analysing the values of artistic works, we used the
concepts of Material Culture as well as those of Visual Culture, specifically, those that refer to
religion

The present dissertation had as general objective to comprehend how spirituality and religiosity experienced by women with breast cancer support them in the discovery of meaning in the suffering arising from this disease. To this do so, a scope review, a systematic review and one empirical study was carried out. Study 1 aimed to map the scientific productions in the area of Religious Studies over the implications of spirituality and religiosity in the health of cancer patients. For eligibility criteria we have considered scientific productions in the format of articles, dissertations and theses, published from January 1, 2018 to October 30, 2022 in the journals A1, A2, B1 and B2 in the area of Religious Studies and Theology and in the catalog of theses and dissertations of postgraduate programs in RS at CAPES, written in Portuguese (Brazil), English, Spanish, German, Italian or French and that brought spirituality and religiosity in health as their central theme of oncological patients. From the 1669 studies found, 9 were selected for reading in full, generated in a final sample of 8 analyzed studies. The results of this review showed that the spirituality and religiosity experienced by cancer patients help them in coping with the disease, in psychological well-being, in the perception of meaning in existence and in quality of life. Study 2 aimed to identify, synthesize and evaluate the literature in a qualitative method about spirituality as a strategy for coping with female breast cancer. The data search took place in SciElo, PePSIC, PsycINFO, Medline, ERIC and PubMed, which traditionally index research in the areas of health, psychology, psychiatry and education. For eligibility criteria we have considered articles published from January 1, 2018 to March 31, 2023, without language restrictions, using a qualitative approach and which discussed the perception of women with breast cancer about spirituality and religiosity as strategies for coping with this disease. From the 906 articles found, 6 remained in the final stage. The results provided evidence that spirituality and religiosity are resources that can be used among patients with breast cancer, as they allow them to see a new meaning in the experience of illness and treatment. Finally, study 3 aimed to understand how spirituality and religiosity experienced by women with breast câncer help them in the discovery of meaning in the suffering resulting from this disease. In view of this, a sample of 10 women told their life story with breast cancer. Through content analysis, it was possible to observe that a perception emerged from the participants' speeches that spirituality and religiosity helped them in coping with breast cancer, as they made them change attitudes in the face of questions about the suffering arising from the disease. In a sense, it is concluded that spirituality and religiosity contribute to the discovery of meaning in the inevitable suffering of women with breast cancer.

Several studies indicate that religion and spirituality can have psychotherapeutic effects on human being. Thus, this work seeks to identify the role of spirituality/religiosity in the experience of caregivers of children and adolescents with cancer. Therefore, a qualitative research was carried out, using semi-structured interviews with the caregivers, which contained questions about their religiosity and experience as a caregiver, in addition to a sociodemographic questionnaire. Eighteen caregivers were interviewed, aged between 24 and 56 (M=37,88; SD= 9,24), being 94,45% women and 5,55% men. The interviews were transcribed to the Microsoft Word processor (2010) and analyzed using the Iramuteq software, using the word cloud, descending hierarchical classification and similarity analysis. The results suggested that religiosity and spirituality are important during the treatment period, considering that they help caregivers to find a meaning to continue caring for the children/adolescents with cancer. Furthermore, it is the attitudinal values that most appear as a source of meaning for caregivers. The results were discussed by Viktor Frankls Logotherapy and Existential Analysis.

The present study deals with the Terreiro Sagrado Ibycarayba and indigenous school education in the village of Brejinho-PB. The research focuses on the relationships between the spirituality of the sacred terreiro and the educational practices of the School and the application of the Cidadã Integral Indígena Antônio Sinésio da Silva. In it, we highlight the practices that students carry out to deepen their traditional knowledge within the terreiro and the great participation of the community of Aldeia Brejinho in the organization of the space of the terreiro. Indigenous school education seeks to follow what is provided for in the National Curricular Reference for Indigenous Schools, by recommending that didactic activities deal with the reality of each community. The general objective is to analyze the relations of the sacred terreiro, with the indigenous school education developed in Aldeia Brejinho and its interfaces with the Potiguara culture. It is based on authors such as: Barcellos (2014), Costa (2022), Palitot (2020; 2018), Santos e Silva (2021) among others. From a methodological point of view, the study has a qualitative approach with an ethnographic nature. First, we resorted to bibliographical research using participant observation, field diary, interviews with semi-structured questionnaires as research instruments, which were crucial for our reflections, since it was through them that we investigated the peculiar educational reality that involves the indigenous community. of Brejinho village and its interface with religiosity. The data collected show that it is of great value to use other spaces, in addition to the classroom, for the process of indigenous school education. The Sacred Terreiro works as one of those places, in which the specific ways of teaching the Potiguara culture can occur in a differentiated way.

network teachers; 4. Interviews with them. It was observed that the
teachers in this network know little, for the most part, the term methodologies
active and consequently did not frequently use these methods during
remote classes and not even returning to in-person classes. That is, knowledge,
with regard to digital media, acquired in the pandemic period, it was not used in
concomitance with active methodologies. However, it was observed in these
teachers a change in the relationship with students when they return to school
in person. This change has more to do with affective bonds than with
the restructuring of means and methods.

DIDACTIC RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FROM BNCC AND DCNLCR

Show Summary

The proposal for Religious Education (RE) in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), a milestone in the consolidation of the pedagogical and epistemological identity of this curricular component in Basic Education, brings up the necessity of thinking about a didactic training in Religious Studies Graduation. The referred graduation is defined by the Resolution CNE/CP nº 5, December 28, 2018, (which establishes the National Curriculum Guidelines for the teacher-training course in Religious Studies (DCNLCR) as the field being responsible for the initial training of the professionals who will act as teachers in the RE Curricular Component (CCER) at schools. Based on these norms, the present thesis claims that there is a Didactics of RE (DER) following the BNCC and the DCNLCR. To which the teacher-training course in Religious Studies (RS) needs to offer a specific attention. One that might be centered on a way of teaching that can arise the articulation of the dimensions in the foundations of the respective concepts that support the teaching-learning processes, composing the subjects of the contents in each Thematic Unit. This analyzes is justified by considering the heavy training in which this teacher needs to articulate the theoretical-scientific knowledge with the theoretical-practical knowledge, in the interrelations that are necessary between the foundations of the CR and the peculiarities of the pedagogical and didactic dimensions, in the teaching-learning process of each levels. Therefore, this thesis was based on applied social research, action research and bibliographical one, as well. It has a qualitative focus and descriptive nature, (GIL, 2002; ANDRADE, 2008). Its study was developed with the objective of: analyzing the interrelationships between the understandings of CCER teachers in the foundation of the teaching-learning process of the Thematic Unit, as well as, Identities and Alterities'', during the first year of Elementary School. All being supported by the CRs and according to the BNCC. The developed field research involving fourteen teachers who teach following the CCER, in João Pessoa-PB, focused on the voice of the teacher. After observing, verifying and correlating the understandings of the participants, while considering the contributions of Philosophical Hermeneutics (GADAMER, 2011, 2015). The teachers answers were analyzed and treated according to Moraes and Galiazzi (2011). This investigation found, first, regarding the BNCC and through the solution it proposes about what to teach, that the challenge moves towards how to teach. Second, regarding the awareness of Didactics (LIBÂNEO, 2013), such superficiality was verified together with no references related to any didactic theory. Thus, the didactic conceptions are much more deducible from an emphasis on the teachers and students activities notwithstanding, in some cases, it is somehow possible to limit the teacher to a means of teaching or technique. Third, regarding the CRs, a considerable gap was noticed, related to the teachers training, between their Graduation and the needs related to how to teach, in the initial years of Elementary School at Basic Education. Throwout the iminente restructuring of the Graduation Course in RE to adjust itself to the DCNLCR and the BNCC, one can deliberate attention over the contributions that the Religious Studies Didactics (DER) can provide by demonstrating, through the pedagogical-didactic training, the inseparability between the how to teach, the notions of RS that underlie Religious Knowledge, and the learning how to articulate the CCER teaching-learning processes.

Faced with the current contemporary problems of education, generated by the fragmentation of thought, the hyperspecialization of academic disciplines, the separation of the subject of knowledge from its object of knowledge and the inability of subjects to find solutions to the challenges of their daily lives; Religious Education (RE), as a curricular component, has the challenge of transforming the contents into knowledge that can be contextualized and capable of developing students' skills to solve everyday problems. Given this context, this study recognizes that the problem of fragmentation and students' inability to contextualize the knowledge of the contents studied in the classroom is found in the paradigmatic model responsible for the way of dealing with this knowledge. Complex thinking emerged as an epistemic proposal in response to contemporary challenges and seeks to respond to these challenges by proposing a new model of thinking capable of reconnecting knowledge that was once fragmented and contextualizing it in the face of life's needs. Our proposal aims to bring RE closer to epistemological theory, complexity and its transdisciplinary method. As a research approach, we chose the bibliography, making use of the main authors that theoretically support this research: Edgar Morin, Basarab Nicolescu, Maria Cândida Moraes and Gilbraz de Sousa Aragão, to name just a few. In addition to the bibliography, we opted for document analysis, where a reading of the thematic units of the ER at the BNCC will be carried out in the light of the complex and transdisciplinary paradigm. At the end of this study, we intend to answer the following question: What are the contributions that complex thinking and the transdisciplinary method, such as epistemology and methodology, offer to RE?

Flower Therapy and Chinese Medicine are among the therapeutic practices considered by the World Health Organization (WHO) as Traditional and Complementary Medicines, both are recognized by the brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) and are part of the National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices of the SUS. Flower Therapy is based on the vitalist model, plus the Spiritual dimension, called Higher Self by Edward Bach. The Chinese Medicine has a physiological and anatomical model of the human being, formed by the concepts of the Three Treasures: Qì, Jīng, Shén and working according to the theory of Yīn Yáng and the Five Elements (Wǔ Xíng), in which health and longevity are achieved through the human being's state of harmony with the environment that surrounds him and with the universal laws of Dào. This research verified the role of Amazonian Flower Remedies in the Acupuncture Meridians of Chinese Medicine, through the self-application of the flower essences of the Emotional Balance formula of the Amazon Flower Remedies System in the points of the Acupuncture Meridians of the body. For this, a phenomenological study was carried out, with the participation of 17 subject users of the Support Center for Students (NAE) of Campus III of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB). Bibliographic research was also carried out on the foundations of Floral Therapy established by Dr. Bach and the fundamentals of the Amazonian Floral System. The research on the Florals of the Amazon was complemented by the research of the interviews carried out by the tuners Maria Alice Campos Freire and Isabel Barsé, in the social networks and by an interview carried out for the author of this research, with the tuner Maria Alice Campos Freire and the Floral Therapist Eduardo Balbino Lopes. Chinese Medicine also went through extensive bibliographical research on its historical context, philosophical foundations and considerations on the cartography of the being and subtle anatomy, proposed by this tradition. According to research data, the practice of self-application of Amazonian Flower essences at the points of the Acupuncture Meridians affected all the dimensions of the being that were verified: physical, sensorial, emotional, mental and spiritual, emphasizing that the acting relationships between flower essences and the Acupuncture Meridians have been established. The dialogue and interdependence between the emotional and mental dimensions proposed by the Emotional Balance formula was evident, based on the subtle anatomy and the cartography of the being proposed by Chinese Medicine. The experiences showed that in addition to the processes that took place in the emotional and mental dimensions, the effect of the practice also reverberated in the other dimensions in a systematic and integrative way.

Historically, since the beginning, humanity, when faced with the mysteries of the immanent
and transcendent world, curiously has sought to understand, assimilate, learn and interpret the
mysteries that emerge in the symbologies of the phenomena that are made known. In this
historical course, to the human species in a continuous formative and evolutionary process;
through mythical, religious and scientific narratives, with the help of currents and educational
theories, they were polishing and unraveling the mysteries of life. In the meantime, some
theories ended; others perpetuated and still exist. Now, even before the conceptions of modern
sciences, the education model that marked history is endorsed in the educational model
originating from religious education, since it was in the light of religious traditions that
humanity was structured as social subjects. This experience does not escape the history of the
Brazilian people. In Brazil, who originally proposed this formative process were the Jesuits,
in the light of the ER, this model of education based on the principles of religiosity and faith;
between advances and setbacks, it was the way to access the learning process, through the
Ratio Studiorum method . However, because Religious Education comes from the connection
with the church, although it is linked to the religious phenomenon of Catholic tradition, even
so, this teaching model, endorsed by confessional religious teaching, even though it has
provided access to knowledge of science, but because it is linked to the principles of the
Roman Church, it triggered, for centuries, misconceptions about its nature, methodology,
epistemology and relevance. In this sense, given the complexity surrounding its legitimacy, as
an area of knowledge and/or model of education, this thesis, over the course of these four (04)
years, through research, was motivated by the search for perception and understanding
regarding to the construction of knowledge acquired by students from religious teaching
classes in the municipality of João Pessoa. Then, thinking about Religious Education (RE) in
the education scenario, has been an overly complex issue in the face of the challenges posed
by the multicultural and pluri-religious dimension of the peoples of this country of continental
dimensions.
From Indians (native-Amerindians) to blacks (Afro-descendants); from caboclos (
Branqundios ) to whites (Euro-Brazilians) and Asians ( whitemarelos ), this is how the nation
of Brazil is. This, territory of continental dimension, reverberates the complexity in the search
for knowing and knowing how to live together in its multiple and faceted trans-religious
manifestations . From Toré to Terreiros, from atabaque to Easter, from Xangô to Yoga, from
Zazem to Spiritists, from Seicho-No-Ie to Bahai Faith , from Santo-Daime to Wicca, from
Shamanism to occultism, from immanence to Transcendence, that is, the microuniverse that
manifests itself in Religious Education (RE) classes in public schools in Brazil, and which it
is necessary to know and live with in mutual respect for this diversity. Starting, therefore,
from these tangles of creeds and their more complex realities of beliefs and non-beliefs,
students from public schools in Brazil, and specifically from the municipal network of João
Pessoa, experience the day to day of classes from religious teaching to the search for
knowledge, to apprehend, to live together and to give meaning to learning that provides them
with experience through training that helps them to live in society, respecting differences in
beliefs and non-beliefs, habits and customs. In the historical course of Brazilian education, to
the detriment of the most varied contexts on education, Religious Education, sometimes
seized as a discipline of the national curriculum, sometimes conceived as an instrument of
catechization, sometimes as a hobby and/or pretending to learn and is taught. Given these
consents, in the chapters that make up the structure of this thesis, the theoretical foundation
was analyzed regarding the foundations that structured the defense of this curricular
component in history as an area of knowledge. In the guiding reflections of historical models
of education. As for the methodology, the phenomenological qualitative research was
adopted. Consequently, the transcription and analysis of the interviews. Finally, the last
chapter presents us with the final considerations, in the light of the voices and reports about
the knowledge built and meanings by the students from the religious teaching classes.
Furthermore, I invite you to read the present thesis which, exhaustively, in a process of
listening, reading, listening successively, was attentive to their reports until reaching the
phenomenological reduction, and then being able to conclude from the voices of those who
were protagonists in the construction of knowledge from RE, that yes, that RE is a discipline
in which not only scientists of religions, professors of religious education, researchers and
those interested in this component have exhaustively defended. However, the reports testify
that it is worthwhile and, if necessary, that the country's education networks, the MEC and
any educator, recognize the significant contribution that the RE has given to our students in
their formative processes. .
In summary, as a contribution to the sciences of religions, Postgraduate programs, and Basic
Education in João Pessoa, this thesis, as a construct of its originality, presents us with the
conviction that students, who experience their existential experiences in the light of ER, are
daily building existential knowledge, such as: Respect for personal and collective life,
valuing their lives, re-signifying existential meanings, overcoming prejudices, practicing
religious tolerance, the culture of peace, re-signifying the value of family, dialogue,
respect for identity, for life (human, animal, plant...), seeing the world from a
perspective of meaning and significance.

Raffaele Pettazzoni was an Italian historicist who dedicated his entire life to the study of
religions, leaving as his main legacy the Comparative Historical Method, his approach to the
world of religions which even today stimulates academic debates in the area. In this sense this
study has tried to detect which of the main disciples of Raffaele Pettazzoni (Angelo Brelich,
Ernesto de Martino and Ugo Bianchi) mostly approached his Historical Comparative Method.
In view of this, we deepened the development of the Method followed by these disciples
academic scholars who, starting from their own concepts, gave a new interpretation to their
master's Method, being directed, each one of them, by various biases in their appreciation of
the object religion. In other words, we have developed a comparative analysis of the concepts
considered key in the Comparative Method developed by these disciples directly influenced
by Pettazzoni, a group of scholars who in the second half of the 20th century became known
as the Italian School of History of Religions. We consequently specifically focus on the
conceptual formation developed by Ugo Bianchi, whom we theorize to be probably the author
who followed most faithfully the perspective of his own mentor. To this aim we pursue the
following specific objectives: to describe the development process of the Comparative
Historical Method in its origins, by presenting the academic achievement of its creator
Raffaele Pettazzoni; to discuss the different approaches to the Comparative Method from the
perspective of the members of the Italian School of History of Religions starting with Angelo
Brelich, Ernesto de Martino and Ugo Bianchi. Finally, a comparison was made between the
concepts considered key to the Comparative Method by Raffaele Pettazzoni and those
maintained by Angelo Brelich, Ernesto de Martino and Ugo Bianchi, highlighting similarities
and differences. That said, to achieve our objective, we have drawn on bibliographic research,
as well as on interviews with second and third generation professors at the Italian School and
some of its best-known critics, applying the dialectical and comparative method, through
which we found methodological support that we needed. Therefore, it is through detailing the
thought of these four authors that we intend to prove our thesis, that is, that Ugo Bianchi was,
among the scholars who took advantage of Pettazzoni's seminal theoretical thought, the one
who came closest to his methodology.
