The GENERAL OBJECTIVE of the program, in line with the guidelines for Master's and Doctorate courses in the AU+D Area, is to promote critical and advanced training for teaching, research and practice in the field of theory, history and technology of Architecture and Urban Planning projects, seen as a process and as a product.
Its SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES are:
[1] deepening investigative approaches;
[2] expanding the universe of impact and scope of human resources and intellectual production;
[3] promoting institutional policies of solidarity and nucleation;
[4] social inclusion and
[5] internationalization of its research, teaching and extension activities.
The FUNCTIONAL STRUCTURE that supports the program's objectives presents a logic focused on the interests of the AREA OF CONCENTRATION and a structure of centers particularly focused on encouraging the adherence of teaching, guidance and research activities to its LINES OF RESEARCH. Therefore, there are specific forums that deal with guaranteeing the specificities of each line of research and there is a general forum that deals with guaranteeing the character of unity given by the existence of a common area of concentration. In the pursuit of these common interests, the final decisions related to the activities of administration, teaching, research, extension, etc. that impact the AREA OF CONCENTRATION of the program are the responsibility of its Board. On the other hand, in the pursuit of specific interests, the initial decisions regarding the scope of each line of research are made in the administrative center of each line of research. In this case, through a group formed by professors, researchers and students accredited or enrolled in the line, the Research Line Group is responsible for:
[1] Supporting the offering of program disciplines related to the LP: ensuring the regular (annual) offering of all curricular components related to the OPTIONAL DISCIPLINES linked to the research line; discussing, assessing and indicating to the Program Board the proposal for offering SPECIAL TOPICS;
[2] Managing the supply of advisors for students accredited in the LP;
[3] Carrying out the selection processes for new LP students;
[4] Discussing and forwarding guidelines for the accreditation and re-accreditation processes of professors and researchers in the LP;
[5] Holding a biannual research and self-assessment meeting of the LP [students and professors];
[6] Organize the Integration Seminar of the PPGAU UFPB, sharing experiences, demands and knowledge with members of other research lines and the Undergraduate Course.
There are therefore 3 research line groups, each formed by 5 (five) Permanent Professors and 2 (two) Collaborating Professors, in addition to all students enrolled in the line. They are:
[1] CENTER OF THE RESEARCH LINE ON BUILDING AND CITY PRODUCTION AND APPROPRIATION – LP1, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Ivan Cavalcanti Filho and Vice-coordinator by Prof. Dr. Marcele Trigueiro de Araújo Morais;
[2] CENTER OF THE RESEARCH LINE ON BUILDING AND CITY PROJECTS – LP2, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Lucy Donegan and Vice-coordinator by Prof. Dr. Carlos Nome;
[3] CORE OF THE RESEARCH LINE ON QUALITY OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT – LP3, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Ana Gomes Negrão and vice-coordinated by Prof. Dr. Mauro Normando Macedo Barros Filho.
