Corrosão: dos fundamentos aos revestimentos inteligentes

Neste seminário serão apresentados alguns conceitos básicos relacionados com a corrosão e com o seu impacto, bem como formas de prevenir e controlar a corrosão. Numa segunda parte da apresentação, focada em revestimentos protetores, será introduzido o conceito de revestimento inteligente, elencando alguns dos trabalhos mais relevantes publicados na área da degradação de materiais, com especial enfoque na corrosão.

• Development of nanocontainers for controlled release of corrosion inhibitors, sensors and biocides: inorganic layered and porous particles, polymer capsules.
• Electrochemical characterization of corrosion processes, screening of corrosion inhibitors, characterization of organic coatings.
• Multifunctional coatings for high performance applications, from aeronautical industry to maritime applications.

85 publications in peer-reviewed journals (h-index 28) with 2800 citations, 4 book chapters, 5 patent applications. Participation in multiple conferences including invited and award talks.

Several honors (FEMS Award for Excellence in Materials Science and Engineering (2020), Carl Wagner Medal Award (2017) for Excellence in research in applied electrochemistry and electrochemical engineering highlighted by the European Federation of Chemical Engineering, Young Researcher Prize (2013) awarded by the Portuguese Electrochemical Society).

Participation in more than 20 national and international projects as coordinator and team member.
