TÍTULO: Stepwise Modeling of the Dysmicoccus brevipes Infestation Interaction with Plant Physiology in Pineapple and Definition of a Manual and a Suborbital Remote Field Sampling
PALAVRAS-CHAVES: Pink mealybug; Dynamics; Gas exchange; Precision Agriculture
PÁGINAS: 30
RESUMO: This study aimed to evaluate the spatial and temporal distribution of Dysmicoccus brevipes as well as physiological variables in plants affected by the insect, through automated variable selection using a stepwise model, in addition to developing a basis for an appropriate IPM (Integrated Pest Management) system for D. brevipes on pineapple plants; to determine the minimum number of plants per hectare to be sampled to address infestation levels; and to quantify the population density of the pineapple mealybug. Gas exchange was measured from stomatal conductance (gs), transpiration (E), CO2 assimilation rate (A), and internal CO2 concentration (Ci). From these data, we estimated instantaneous water use efficiency (EiUA, A/E). We conducted multispectral imaging flights using a DJI Mavic 3 multispectral UAV. These data were subjected to different statistical modeling. The goodness of fit of the Nachman model to the data was verified to define sampling by absence and presence of the insect; Taylor Power Law described the level of insect aggregation; logistic regression determined the ideal number of samples; a Confusion Matrix was used to obtain Sensitivity and Specificity results; and a heatmap with a hierarchical dendrogram was used to analyze multispectral images. The population fluctuation of D. brevipes showed a non-linear response over time, with population peaks around 150 days after crop establishment. For colony probability, peaks began after 180 days. While population density remained constant for up to 180 days, insect density decreased thereafter. The physiological parameters that had the greatest influence on D. brevipes infestation were: chlorophyll-a, Fv, Ci, gs, A, and WUE. In univariate comparisons of the medians of the evaluated parameters, significant differences between the infested and non-infested groups were observed only for the following variables: Chlorophyll a, Fv, gs, and WUE. Finally, D. brevipes infestations can be classified as either absent or present and occur in aggregated form. Based on the sensitivity values, we estimate that we sampled at least 25 plants per hectare. Finally, multispectral imaging from NDRE levels can also contribute to pest monitoring. This is a preliminary exploratory study that proposes, rather than validates, a sampling framework.
